Registration Categories
General Use: A pesticide
can be purchased and used by the general public without undue hazards
to the applicator and environment as long as the instructions on the
label are followed carefully;
Restricted Use: A pesticide designated by the USEPA
or the Pesticide Board Subcommittee, that can be purchased and used
only by certified applicators because of the inherent toxicity of the
pesticide or the potential hazard to the environment.
State Limited Use: A pesticide or pesticide use for
which the Pesticide Board Subcommittee has
- restricted to certain individuals or groups,
- required permission from the Department
prior to each use or
- the Pesticide Board has restricted in
some other manner;
Experimental Use: A pesticide
for which a temporary permit for use is granted for the purpose of testing
under specified circumstances consistent with and no less stringent
than Federal requirements;
Special Local Needs: A federally registered pesticide
which the state has registered for additional uses and is formulated
for distribution and use within the state to meet special local needs.
