There were 18 farms funded through the DAR review process and an additional
5 projects selected through the Watershed Initiative for a total of 23
farms participating in the $200,000 funding pool. Many of the projects
had several components addressing different potential non-point source
pollution issues.
The three major topics were pesticide management, manure management and
erosion control.

Eight projects addressed pesticide issues by implementing tailwater recovery
systems and constructing pesticide loading and storage sheds.

Fourteen projects focused on manure management through installing temporary
stacking areas, roof gutters, silage pads, milk house waste systems and
heavy use pads.

Nine projects addressed erosion control through constructing gravel lane-ways, installing fencing, seeding and bank stabilization measures.
The AEEP funds complemented USDA-Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funding on many farms.
