Berkshire Regional Food and Land Council, West Stockbridge - Website for "Berkshire Grown". Project will establish a Website
to inform visitors about the benefits of buying local and provide a link
to member farms, B&Bs and restaurant web pages. The site will contain
agricultural and environmental news, bulletins and newsletters. $4,400.

2. Colleen and Glenn Caffery, Leyden - "Green" Greenhouse Kit: Development of an
Affordable, Easily Constructed, Energy Efficient Greenhouse for
Massachusetts Growers. By applying advances in super-efficient home
construction, an inexpensive energy efficient greenhouse will be
demonstrated. It will be fabricated from readily available materials, and
be designed for commercial plant production that uses no fossil fuels

3. Cape Cod Cranberry Growers' Association, Wareham -
Economies of Scale and Renovation Efficiency Study for Massachusetts
Cranberry Industry. This study proposes to address two of the most
common ways growers can minimize their cost of production and maintain
their viability 1) evaluate the size of cranberry operations in relationship
to profitability and 2) determining when it is time to renovate bogs
to improve efficiencies and yields. $10,000

Institute, Wareham - Use of Lignocellulosic Materials
as Pesticide Residue Sorbents. The goal of the project is to develop
environmentally friendly filtration systems to remove trace amounts
of toxic compounds in waste water. $9,500
5. The Forest and Wood Products
Institute, Gardner - Massachusetts Wood Recovery Project.
Market research for furniture "dimension parts" and other value added
products will be conducted, prototype pieces will be made, and marketing
strategies will be developed in an attempt to create new markets for
Massachusetts forest products. $30,000

Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc., Seekonk - Applying
and Promoting Environmentally Sound Advanced Agricultural Technology
on Farms and in the Classroom. Advanced level workshops and agricultural
resource materials will be developed for high school students and
educators. $15,000
7. Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation, Inc, Ashland -
Massachusetts Hay Marketing Internet Website. The purpose of the project
is to fully implement a hay marketing program with improved production
capacity and improved hay quality. $10,000

Canton - Freshness and Flavor: the Last Frontier. A distribution
and promotion system will be developed focusing on the last defendable
advantage that local fruit and vegetable farmers hold in a competitive
global market - the ability to deliver the freshest and most flavorful
products. $39,740
9. Edward Stockman, Summit Farm, Plainfield - Growing
Crops of Lesser Value Under Row Covers. On farm research will investigate
the benefits and economic feasibility of using row covers on lesser
value crops to expand early season revenues. $704
