FALL 2014 OSD BUYER TRAINING & EVENTS:

OCTOBER 2014
October 21st - COMMBUYS Purchasing Training - Boston.  This 3 1/2 hour session is designed for staff responsible for purchasing goods and/or services from Statewide and departmental contracts.  It provides an introduction to COMMBUYS, system navigation and policy and instruction on how to purchase from Statewide or Department contracts.  Participants will learn to: Use COMMBUYS to search for items and/or services, create a request using a requisition document, search for specific items and/or services using a line item or a punch-out catalog, convert the approved requisition to a purchase order or bid depending on the intent of the purpose, and create change orders. October 22nd - How to use Master Blanket Purchase Orders (SWC) Webinar.  Learn about the goods and services on Statewide Contracts, cost saving opportunities, and how to locate and use the contracts.  Register
October 22nd-23rd - MassCUE/M.A.S.S. Conference - Foxboro.  From 7:30am – 5:30 pm on Wednesday, October 22, and from 7:30am-4:30 pm on Thursday, October 23, the OSD will host an exhibit table at the MassCUE/M.A.S.S 2014 Fall Conference.  For more information about the event, please visit: MASS CUE

This all day session is recommended for staff with the responsibility of conducting procurements for goods and/or services not available on a Statewide contract. The class will cover: the creation of a bid, the use of templates, how to manage attachments, online bid evaluation and contract award, and posting awarded contracts online in COMMBUYS.  Register
October 28th - Discovering Statewide Contracts/Master Blanket Purchase Orders: Information, Demonstration & Application - Boston.  This course covers how to use Statewide Contracts and COMMBUYS. This class should be attended by all new and existing procurement and purchasing staff.  Register
October 28th - COMMBUYS Purchasing Drop-in Sessions - Boston.  This 45-minute drop-in session is designed for individuals who have attended COMMBUYS Purchasing training but would like follow-up support in purchasing goods and services from statewide and department contracts in COMMBUYS. Please bring your work samples and questions to receive individualized support and advice from our staff.  Register

October 29th - E-Rate Program and Statewide Contracts Webinar.  Schools and libraries are eligible to take advantage of the Federal Communications Commission's E-Rate Program to cover a portion of the cost of telecommunications services.  This 45 minute webinar will help you learn how the Statewide Contracts support and make the E-Rate Program participation easier for local buyers.  Register

This event is designed for local purchasing officials to learn about OSD Programs and Services, including a COMMBUYS demonstration, and a briefing on Statewide Contracts. Buyers will also have a chance to interact with their local vendor community over lunch - and perhaps get to know them better. Register

November 12th - COMMBUYS Organization Administrator Training - Boston.  This is an intensive all-day class for those identified as Organization Administrators in the COMMBUYS system. Organizational Administrator training provides an in-depth review of and hands-on practice with COMMBUYS including the Organization information, approval, workflow and user profile set-up activities.  Upon completion of this training, Organization Administrators will be prepared to fulfill their roles in COMMBUYS, including set-up activities and maintenance tasks. Attend a workshop in the morning - Connecting Your Business With the Commonwealth - followed by lunch that will also include the opportunity to interact with potential customers in the area.  Following lunch, vendors will have a chance to register their company in COMMBUYS - with the assistance of trainers if necessary.
