Common Shortcut Keys for Self Service Time and Attendance

Control+I or Alt+A

Opens Favorite list

Insert+Down Arrow

Reads from the cursor down

Insert+F5

This key combination opens the Select a Form List.  Generally the Insert+F5 combination is used to locate a cell in a table where you can enter information.  For example, login ID, password, or reported hours.

On the Self Service Time and Attendance Home page, the Insert+F5 displays the following three links: Change My Password link, My Personalizations link, and the My System Profile link.

 

 

Insert+F6

This key combination opens the Headings List.

Insert+F7

This key combination opens the Links List.

Note:    Once a list is open, use the up and down arrow to find the link you are looking for.  If you know the name of the link you may press the first letter in the link’s name. Press the same letter again to cycle through the links that have the same first letter in their name.

Insert+Control+T

This key combination opens the Table List.

Alt+D

This key combination moves the cursor to the address

Escape

This key forces an exit from Form/PC cursor mode.

Control+Home

This key combination takes to the top of the page.

Insert+Down Arrow

Reads from the line where the cursor is and continues down the page.

Down Arrow

Says next line.

Up Arrow

Says prior line.

Right Arrow

Says next character.

Left Arrow

Says prior character.

Control+F

Opens JAWS Find dialogue box.  Use this function to find a particular word or phrase on the page.  Once the box is open, type the word you are searching for, and use the F3 to cycle through similar words on the page.

Alt+Down Arrow

This key combination opens a combo box.  Once the box is open use the up and down arrow and JAWS will read the different available options. 

B

Says Next button.  Press B again to cycle through any other available buttons on the page.

C

Says the Next Combo Box.  Press C again to cycle through any other available Combo box on the page.

H

Says next heading.  Press H again to cycle through any other available headings on the page.

T

Says Next Table.  Press T again to cycle through any other tables available on the page.

You may favor or use different keys to navigate and complete the timesheet depending on you level of comfort as a JAWS user.  These shortcuts were tested using JAWS 13 and apply to Self Service Time and Attendance HTML pages.

Change Your Password The First Time You log into Self Service Time and Attendance.

When you log into Self Service Time and Attendance for the first time, or when your password is expired, you will be prompted to change your password.  In this case, when you log in, the Your Password has Expired page will display.

Step 1.          Press the Insert+F7 to open the Links List.  This automatically selects the only link on the page labeled; Your Password Has Expired.

Step 2.          Press the Enter key.  This will display the Change Password screen.  JAWS will automatically read the whole page.

Step 3.          Press Insert+F5 to open the Select a Form Field dialogue box and select Current Password* field.

Step 4.          Press the Enter key.  This will place the cursor in the Current Password* field.

Step 5.          Type your current password and press the Tab key.  This lands your cursor in the New Password* field.

Step6.           Type your new password and press the Tab key.  This lands your cursor in the Confirm Password* field.

Step7.           Type your new password again and press the Tab key.  This will select the Change Password button.

Step8.           Once the Change Password button is selected, press the Enter key.  This displays the Change or set up forgotten password help page – security question.

Step9.           Press the letter C to land in the Question Combo Box.

Step10.         Once the Combo Box is selected, press Alt+Down Arrow.  This opens the combo box

Step 11.        Use the Down and Up arrows to hear the different questions.  Once you decide on a question, press the Enter or the Escape key.

Step12.         Press the Tab key.  This places the cursor in the Response field.

Step 13.        Type your response to the question you selected and press the Tab key.  This selects the Save Button.

Step14          Press the Enter key.  This displays the Password Saved page.

Step15.         Press the letter B to select the OK button then press the Enter key.

This concludes your password change and displays your SSTA Home page.

Get to the Self Service Time and Attendance Login Page and Save to the Favorite Folder

Step 1.  Open your Internet Browser

Step 2.  Press Alt+D, this moves the cursor into the address bar and automatically selects the current address.

Step 3.  Type the following address in the address bar: mass.gov/masshr and press the Enter key.  This displays the MassHR home page.

Step 4.  On the MassHR home page Press Control+F, to open the JAWS Find dialogue box.

Step 5.  Once the box is open, type the words, enter my time, and press the Enter key.  This will select the Enter my Time and Attendance link.

Step 6.  Press the Enter key.  This opens the Self-Service Time and Attendance login page.

Step 6.  Once the login page is open, press Control+D.  this will open the Add a Favorite dialogue box.

Step 7.  Press the Enter key to add the page to your Favorites.

Find the Self-Service Time and Attendance Link in the Favorite List

Step  1. press Control+I or Alt+A, this opens your list of all saved favorite sites

Step 2.  arrow up and down until the Self Service Time and Attendance link is selected and press the Enter key.


Use the Forgot Your Password Link on the Self Service Time and Attendance Login Page to Reset Your Password

In case you forget your password, you may take the following steps to help you reset your password:

Step 1.          On the Self Service Time and Attendance login page, press Insert+F7 to open the Links List.  This automatically selects the only link on the login page labeled Forgot your password?

Step 2.          Press the Enter key.  This displays the Forgot My Password page and places the cursor in the edit field where you need to enter your user ID.

Step 3.          Enter your user ID and press the Tab key to select the Continue button.

Step 4.          Once the Continue button is selected, press the Enter key.  This will display a page with your validation question.  Remember, the validation question is the question you selected when you last changed your password.

Step 5.          Press the Up Arrow twice to hear your validation question.  You may also choose to read the information on this page from top to bottom and verify that your email address is correct.

Step 6.          Press Insert+F5 to open the Form Field dialogue box.

Step 7.          Use the Down and Up Arrows to select Response: Edit field and press the Enter key.

Step 8.          Type your response to the question and Tab to the Email My New Password button.

Step 9.          Press the Enter key.  This displays the Password Emailed confirmation page

Step 10.        Check your email account and open an email received from PSFT@state.ma.us with the following Subject:  User ID Password

Step 11.        Copy the temporary password from the email

Step 12.        Open the Self Service Time and Attendance login page

Step 13.        Log in using your employee ID and your temporary password.  Once you are logged in, you will be prompted to change your password.  Do so.

This concludes the process of using the Forgot Your Password link to reset your password.


Submit Time and Attendance with no Changes or Deviations

Step 1.  Open your browser and navigate to the Self Service Time and Attendance Login page.

Step 2.  Enter your employee id in the User ID field.

Step 3.  Enter your password in the Password field and press the Enter key.  This opens the Self Service Time and Attendance Home Page.

Step 4.  Press the Insert+F7 to open the Links List

Step 5.  Once the Links List is open, press the letter S, repeat if needed until the Self Service Folder is selected and press the Enter key.  This opens the Self Service Folder.

Step 6.  Press the Insert+F7 to open the Links List

Step 7.  Once the Links List is open, press the letter T, repeat when needed until the Timesheet link is selected and press the Enter key.  This opens your Timesheet.

Step 8.  Once the timesheet is open, press the letter B to select the Submit button then press the Enter key.  This opens the Submit Confirmation screen.

Step 9.  On the Submit Confirmation screen, press the better B to select the OK button then press the Enter key.

This concludes the process of submitting your timesheet.

 

Verify the Details of What You Submitted on Your Timesheet by Using the Status Table

Step 1.  Once the timesheet is submitted, press the letter T.  Repeat when needed until the Reported Time Status table is selected.

Step 2.  Press Control+Alt+Down Arrow if you wish to skip reading the column headers. This will also prompt  JAWS to read the data populated in the first cell under the headers.

Step 3.  Once in the first cell with populated date, use the Down Arrow key to read the rest of the row.  Reminder: When you report worked hours, your TRC fields in the status table remain empty or blank. 

Step 4.  Press the Down Arrow again to read the rest of the table.

This concludes the process of reviewing the Reported Time Status table.

 

Verify the Total Number of Hours Submitted on Your Timesheet

Step 1.  After you submit your time, press Control+Home to make sure the cursor is at the top of the page.

Step 2.  Press Control+F to open the JAWS Find dialogue box.

Step 3.  Once the box is open, type the words Reported Hours and press the Enter key.  JAWS will read your Reported Hours and Scheduled Hours.  The Reported Hours are the total number of hours you submitted for that week. 

Note:  When the Timesheet is in Day view, the Reported Hours are the total number of hours you submitted for that day.

This concludes the process of reviewing the total number of hours submitted on the timesheet.

How to Report Vacation Time for an Entire Week

Step 1.  Log into SSTA; you may use the Tab key or use the Insert+F5 Form List to navigate the differed editable fields.

Step 2.                  Enter you employee id in the User ID field.

Step 3.                  Enter your password in the Password field.

Step 4.                  Press the Enter key, or Select the Sign In button then press the Enter key.

Step 5.                  Press the Insert+F7 to open the Links List

Step 6.                  Once the Links List is open, press the letter S, repeat until the Self Service folder is selected then press the Enter key.

Step 7.                  Press the Insert+F7 to open the Links List

Step 8.                  Once the Links List is open, press the letter T, repeat until the Timesheet link is selected then press the Enter key.  This will open your Timesheet.

Step 9.                  Press Insert+F5 to open the Select a Form Field dialogue box.

Step 10.                Once the dialogue box is open, press the letter T.  Repeat until the TRC Row 1 Edit field is selected, and press the Enter key.

Step 11.                Type the code VAC and press the Enter key.

Step 12.                Press the Tab key to get the cursor out of the TRC field.

Step 13.                Press the letter B to select the Submit button and press the Enter key.  This displays the Submit Confirmation page.

Step 14.                Press the letter B to select the OK button and press the Enter key.

Step 15.                Press Insert+F7 to open the Links List.

Step 16.                Once the Links List is open, press the letter S.  Repeat until the Sign Out link is selected and press the Enter key. 

Use the same process to report time for the entire week using any TRC.


 

Report Leave Time for an Entire Day Using the “View by Day” Timesheet.

 

Step 1.                  Follow earlier instructions and submit your timesheet for the entire week with no changes or deviations.

Step 2.                  Once you have submitted and confirmed your time for the week, press the letter C to select the Combo Box.

Step 3.  Press Alt+Down Arrow to open the Combo List Box.

Step 4.                  Press the Up or Down Arrows until the Day option is selected and press the Escape key.  This updates and changes your timesheet to day view, and displays the first day of the week which is Sunday.

Step 5.                  Press the Tab key twice to select the *Date field and change the populated date to the desired date.

Step 6.  Tab over to Refresh Timesheet Link Graphic and press the Enter key.

Step 7.  Press Insert+F5 to open the Select a Form Field dialogue box.

Step 8.                  Once the Select a Form Field dialogue box is open, arrow up or down or press the letter T until the TRC Row 1 Edit is selected and press the Enter key.

Stip 9.                   Type the proper Time Reporting Code to indicate the type of leave you are taking for that day.  For example, V A C for vacation or S I C for sick.

Step 10.                Press the + key on the NumLock pad get the cursor out of the edit field.

Step 11.                Press the letter B to select the Submit button and press the Enter key.

Step 12.                Press the letter B to select the OK button.  This updates and displays the Timesheet.

Step 13.                Verify that you entered your time correctly.  See earlier tip sheet on how to verify time reported.

This concludes the process of Reporting leave time for an entire day using the “View by Day” timesheet.  If you wish to change the timesheet from “View by day” to View by Week,” continue to the next section.

Change the Timesheet from “View by day” to “View by Week” After Submitting Time for One Day.

 

Step 1.                  Once you complete modifying your time in day view, press the letter C to select the View by Combo box.

Step 2.                  Press Alt+Down Arrow to open the Combo List Box.

Step 2.                  Use the Up and Down Arrows until the “Week” option is selected and press the Escape key.  This updates and displays the timesheet in week view starting with the day you had just modified. 

Step 2.                  Press the Tab key twice to select the *Date field and type the date for the day you want your time sheet to start.  You can also get to the *Date field by opening the Form Field dialogue box by pressing the Insert+F5

Note:                    Date format should be MM/DD/YYYY. For example, 07/01/2012.

Step 3.                  Tab over to Refresh links and press the Enter key. The timesheet will display the week properly.

 

This concludes the process of changing the timesheet from View by Day to View by Week after submitting time for one day.

Report Leave Time for Part of a Work Day Using the View by Day Timesheet.

 

Use this process if you start your work later than your scheduled time, or if you leave work before your scheduled time.

Step 1.                  Follow earlier instructions and submit your timesheet for the entire week with no changes or deviations.

Step 2.                  Once you have submitted and confirmed your time for the week, press the letter C to select the Combo Box.

Step 3.  Press Alt+Down Arrow to open the Combo List Box.

Step 4.                  Press the Up or Down Arrows until the Day option is selected and press the Escape key.  This updates and changes your timesheet to day view, and displays the first day of the week which is Sunday.

Step 5.                  Press the Tab key twice to select the *Date field and change the populated date to the desired date.

Step 6.  Press the Tab key to select the Refresh link and press the Enter key.

Step 7.  Press Insert+F5 to open the Select a Form List.

Step 8.                  Use the Up and Down arrow or short cut key to find the date you wish to modify and press the Enter key.

Example.             If you are scheduled to work 7.5 hours on Monday, but only worked 4 hours, select Monday Row 1 Edit from the Form list, press the Enter key and change the number of hours from 7.5 to 4.

Note.                    To report leave time for part of a work day you will need to add a new row to your timesheet.

Step 9.                  Press Insert+F7 to open the Links List

Step 10.                Once the links List is open, press the letter A until the Add a row is selected and press the Enter key.

Step 11.                Press Insert+F5 to open the Select a Form List.

Step 12.                Once the Form List is open, use the Up and Down arrows or the short cut key to select the day you wish to modify in Row 2 edit and press the Enter key.  This places the cursor in the Edit field.

Step 13.                Type the number of leave hours for that day.

Example.             If you left work 3 ½ hours early on Monday type 3.5 in the Monday Row 2 Edit.

Step 14.                Once you have entered the number of hours in the in edit field row 2, press the Tab key once.  This selected the T R C field. Type the proper code.  For example, V A C for vacation or S I C for sick.

Step 15.                Press the Tab key once to exit the edit field.

 

Step 16.                Press the letter B to select the Submit button and press the Enter key.

Step 17.                Once on the Confirmation page, press the letter B to select the OK button.  This updates and opens the Timesheet.

Step 18.                Verify that you entered your time correctly.  See earlier tip sheet on how to verify time reported.
