Pursuant to the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009, employers are required to provide notice of the premium assistance subsidy available to benefit eligible employees who reside in certain states, including Massachusetts. This notice changes yearly and must be provided to eligible employees annually. We post the notice on the GIC website and it is included in the GIC health plan handbooks.  

However, each eligible employee who resides in one of the states listed on the notice (including MA, RI and NH) must receive an individual notice without regard to participation in a health plan. Since the GIC does not know which of your employees are eligible, but not participating in GIC health plans, you must send the notice to all your eligible employees.  The procedures have been modified on the Coordinator manual section of this site to reflect this change.  Please distribute the notice to all GIC-eligible employees during Annual Enrollment – it’s located on the forms section of our website.
