Lee Anne St. Martin, Director of Operations
Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke

In January 2012, the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke underwent the annual recognition survey conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs.  This extensive review of all aspects of the Home’s performance is designed to ensure compliance with all VA standards.  After the first day of inspection, the surveyor stated that Lee Anne St. Martin’s records were “immaculate,” and during his exit briefing, the surveyor stated that the facility was, “The best he has ever seen”.  Despite a checklist with 132 separate entries, not a single item was found out of compliance.  This was all due to Lee Anne’s leadership and guidance.  A veteran herself, Lee Anne’s responsibilities include Housekeeping, Maintenance, Grounds, HVAC Operations, Life Safety, Emergency Management, Laundry, and Security; a diverse spectrum of responsibilities often split among at least two individuals.  Despite this breadth of responsibilities, Lee Anne is able to provide definitive answer and guidance to Directors, and clear operating instructions to her staff.  She follows up on all actions and is meticulous with her documentation of actions taken.
