Dan Miguel is a mentor to every employee on his staff.  He is the “go-to” person for the tough questions.  After Dan was appointed as the Payroll Director, he met with each employee to figure out the skill deficiencies they had. He was then able to coach each and every employee to grow and develop in their value to the agency.  His unit went from one that was static - just working to maintain current processes, to one that began to drive analytics usage throughout the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).  Employees on his team at DCR credit Dan for teaching them on how to use the many applications to help solve the agency’s problems with regards to the hiring and promotion process. When asked about Dan’s proudest moment as a mentor, he said that mentoring is a team activity and being able to watch his mentees become mentors themselves is amazing.
