Create a Job Posting

1. Click on the Jobs button.

2. Click on Create Free-Form Job button.

3.  Agency Name: Select the agency for which you are posting the position.

4. Posting ID of Existing Job (optional). Enter the posting ID if you want to copy posting contents of another active or inactive job posting.

5. MassCareers: For agencies that are not using the MassCareers recruitment application, select No.

For agencies using MassCareers, select Yes and refer to the Publishing a Requisition Job Aid. 

6. Click on the Next button.

7. Official Title: Enter the official title for the position.

8. Functional Title: Enter the official title for the position.

9. Occupational Group: Select an occupational group from the drop-down menu.

10. Classification: Select Non-management or management position

11. Salary Range: Enter minimum and maximum salary range.

12. Rate: Populates to annually. You may also select hourly or biweekly.

13. Bargaining Unit: Enter NA (For not applicable)

14. Agency Name: Your agency name will populate into the posting.

15. How to Apply. Edit information that populates or enter agency name, address, email address, and facsimile number where applicants can forward their resume and cover letter.

16. Agency Web Site Address. Edit information or enter Agency web site address.

17. Diversity Officer. Edit information or enter Diversity Officer Name and telephone number, or enter NA (For not applicable)

Note: The Agency Web Site Address and Diversity Officer fields populate automatically from the CEO database. Requests or changes to these fields and to the How to Apply section can be made in writing through your personnel office. Requests should be forwarded to:

18. Qualifications: Enter qualifications for the position.

19. Full-Time or Part-time. Select whether position is full-time, part-time (or full-time and part-time if applicable for a multiple vacancy posting).

20. Shift. Select Day, Evening or Night (or multiple if applicable for multiple vacancy posting).

21. Location. Select the city or town where the position is located.

22. Facility Location. If needed, enter the address of the facility location.

23. External Comments. Enter any additional comments that will appear in the published posting.

24. Duties. Enter duties of the position.

25. Preferred Qualifications. Enter the preferred qualifications of the position.

26. Internal Comments. If needed, type information that is only seen by Job Posters. Information in this field is not displayed on the web site.

27. Optional Search Words. Enter any optional search words that relate to the type of position that is being posted.

28. Number of Vacancies. Enter number of vacancies for the position.

29. Job is for Internal Distribution Only. Click in this checkbox if position should not be published to the CEO public web site. Job postings can be printed out and manually posted in internal office locations.

30. Click on Check Spelling to check for spelling errors in the Job Posting.

31. Click on the Save Draft button if the posting is incomplete or click on the Submit Job button to submit the posting to be published or click on the Submit and Copy Job button to submit the original posting to be published and create another posting with all the same fields entered in the original posting. If you clicked Save Draft, you can re-access your draft posting by clicking on Edit Job. you may also refer to Edit a Draft Job Posting section for further assistance.

Note: If all required fields are not completed when the Submit or Submit and Copy Job button is clicked, the following dialog box appears:

 

The fields highlighted in red must be completed in order to submit the Job Posting for review.

32. Posting Duration. Posting duration will default to 14 days for externally posted positions. For internal only positions, posting duration will default to 10 days. If the duration should be longer than the required period, type the appropriate number of days for the duration of the posting. The posting must remain on the CEO until the posting deadline. The Posting Duration cannot be less than the required period.

33. Defer Publication of Job Until: If the position should NOT be posted immediately, type the date on which it should be posted using the MM-DD-YYYY format. Otherwise, leave this field with date listed.

Set Job Posting Duration

34. Submit: Click on Submit to submit the posting to be published or click on the Cancel button to return to the Job Posting.

 

 

Create Copy of a Posting

You may create a copy of a draft, published or expired/archived posting by following these instructions. When copying the Job Posting, a replica of the posting is created with a new Posting ID. All fields of a posting are copied into the new posting. All fields of a posting are copied into the new posting..

1. Click on the Jobs button.

2. Click on Create Free-Form Job: Click on the drop down arrow and select the department for which you are posting the position.

Icon Tip Tip: All departments for which you have security access appear in the Department Code drop down list.

3. Agency Name: Select the agency for which you are posting the position

4. Posting ID. Enter the posting ID to copy posting contents of another active or inactive job posting.

5. MassCareers: For agencies that are not using the MassCareers recruitment application, select No.

For agencies using MassCareers, select Yes and refer to the Publishing a Requisition Job Aid. 

6. Next Button: Click on Next button to open the job posting. A replica of the posting is created.

7. To save and/or submit the posting, complete steps 27-30 from the Create a Job Posting section of this job aid.

 

 

Edit a Draft Job Posting

Follow the steps below to open a draft Job Posting that you have created but have not yet published.

1. Log in to the CEO application.

2. Click on the Tasks.

3. Click on Drafted Items.

4. Select the posting you want to edit.

5. Click on Edit Job button.

6. Make any necessary changes to the Job Posting.

7. To save and/or submit the posting, complete steps 27-31 from the Create a Job Posting section of this job aid.

 

 

Delete a Draft Job Posting

Follow the steps below to delete a draft Posting.

1. Log in to the CEO application.

2. Click on Tasks.

3. Click on Drafted Items.

4. Open the posting you want to delete.

5. Click on Delete Job button.

6. You will see a message confirming that your posting has been deleted.
