Governor Patrick signed the Autism Insurance Reform into law at Fenway Park on August 3rd, 2010. The bill requires health insurers in Massachusetts to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

"I am proud that Massachusetts now has one of the most comprehensive autism coverage laws in the nation," Patrick said in a statement released by his office on August 3rd. "This bill offers needed relief for individuals and families struggling to pay for the services they need."

Voted on as the DD Council's Priority Bill for the legislative session 2009/2010, we are excited to report that Massachusetts joins 23 other states to pass legislation requiring health insurers to cover treatment of autism spectrum disorder.
