Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC), in conjunction with the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), will install two 1.65 MW turbines at the College's campus in Gardner, MA.
DCAMM and MWCC worked closely on the development and construction of this project, which is partially funded by the US Department of Energy and Massachusetts Clean Energy Investment bonds.
College officials expect the project to generate nearly $1 million in annual revenue, supply 97% of the college's electricity needs and return about 30 percent of its power back to the electricity grid.
DCAMM recognizes the leading role MWCC has played in meeting the Commonwealth's renewable energy goals.
In May 2011, MWCC received an Environmental Merit Award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for this project.
