The Sheriffs Department, in conjunction with the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) have completed an energy project that includes the in kind retrofit of 300 existing solar thermal panels (installed in 1984) with flat panel collectors and the installation of an onsite Monitoring System. The system will be reported through a web portal using a device called "The Fat Spaniel Monitoring System." The monitoring system constantly collects the relevant energy production, flow and temperature data from the Sheriff Department's solar hot water installations.
