This project will consolidate all of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' (MCLA) science programs and prepare students to enter the research pipeline. Current facilities at MCLA do not adequately foster the integrated, hands on discovery approach required under the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math workforce initiative (STEM).
This project involves the study, design and construction of a new Center for Science and Innovation at (MCLA).
The new building will include Biology/Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology teaching and research laboratories, as well as laboratory support spaces such as prep rooms, general storage, chemical storage, machine shop, animal holding areas, and a greenhouse. General purpose teaching spaces, informal study spaces such as a café and interdisciplinary spaces such as laboratories for non-majors and K-12 educators in Berkshire County will be featured in this project as well .
