Overview
The Town Halls layer shows the location of 355 primary executive offices, including town or city halls and annexes. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) GIS Program in cooperation with the Regional Planning Agencies and participating communities created the data as part of the development of Homeland Security Data Layers.
Stored in the ArcSDE, the layer is named TOWNHALLS_PT_MEMA.
Production
MEMA GIS staff used the Mass.gov data and geocoded the town hall addresses. Regional planning agency data was used to update the production layer, which was then reviewed for completeness and accuracy by MEMA using Pictometry, parcel databases and by calling towns. MEMA and MassGIS staff then performed a final quality assurance of point locations and attribute values.
Attributes
The layer's point attribute table contains the following fields:
NAME Name of facility ADDRESS_1 Street address 1 ADDRESS_2 Other Address, PO BOX, Rear, Unit, etc. CITY City or town name ZIP 5-digit ZIP Code AREACODE Telephone Area Code TELEPHONE Telephone number SOURCE Attribute source L_SRC Location source L_DATE Location date
Maintenance
MEMA will provide any updates to MassGIS. Please send any corrections or updates to:
