    This advisory serves as a reminder from the Commonwealth’s Chief Information Security Officer that forwarding Commonwealth email pertaining to official Commonwealth business to personal email accounts is a violation of the Commonwealth Enterprise Security Policies and Standards and therefore is prohibited.

    The Commonwealth Chief Technology Officer is issuing this Advisory Memorandum in response to questions raised about the use of the “Skype” communication application for Secretariat/Agency deployment.

  • Windows 7 and Internet Explorer v. 8.0

    The Commonwealth Chief Technology Officer is issuing this Advisory Memorandum in response to questions raised about the use of Microsoft’s “Windows 7” (Win7) desktop operating system with Microsoft’s “Internet Explorer 8” (IE8) for secretariat/agency desktop configurations. ITD recently conducted a survey of Enterprise System leaders and Secretariat CIOs to determine compatibility of applications with Win7 and IE8, as well as any security or accessibility concerns. Early feedback from this survey, as well as initial test results proved predominately favorable.

  • Internet Explorer v. 7.0

    The Commonwealth Chief Technology Officer is issuing this Advisory Memorandum in response to questions raised about version level support for Internet Explorer (IE) in agency desktop configurations. Please be advised that ITD has not, as of yet, performed formal or rigorous testing of IE7 or IE8. However, based on current industry practices, Commonwealth agency feedback, and business owner feedback, it is advised that agencies that use Internet Explorer upgrade to IE7 or higher.
  • CIO Advisory - EO 504: Security and Confidentiality of Personal Information

    In this era of constrained resources, it is more important than ever that we work together towards our common goals. The purpose of this advisory memo is to:1. Communicate ongoing EO 504-related activities being undertaken by the Information Technology Division (ITD) and Enterprise Security Board (ESB);2. Recommend that individual agencies coordinate their compliance efforts with the ongoing efforts of ITD and the ESB; and 3. agency input and participation in the EO 504 guidance development efforts being led by the ESB.
