Bureau of State Office Buildings
The Bureau of State Office Buildings’ mission is to provide a safe, secure workplace for customers and to efficiently maintain mechanical structures and buildings. The Bureau manages seven state office buildings, including the State House, the Lindemann Mental Health Center, the Saltonstall Building, the McCormack Building, the Hurley Building, and the Springfield and Pittsfield State Office Buildings.
Objectives
In Fiscal Year 2000 the Bureau will:
- improve safety and security through the installation of electronic devices to restrict exterior access points and a universal elevator emergency call system;
- continue restoration and repair of the State House including murals, the roof, and the skylight; and
- redesign and renovate the Registry of Motor Vehicles customer service area at the Springfield State Office Building.
Budget Recommendations
The amount recommended for Fiscal Year 2000 will enable the Bureau to achieve the objectives outlined above and includes increases in the office buildings operations account (1102-3301) of $25,000 for new access card readers and $75,000 for roof maintenance and exterior waterproofing in the State House and McCormack building.
