SECTION 299.
Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, for item 0330-3336 of section 2 of this act, the trial court shall retain 50 per cent of all fees charged and collected by the judiciary in excess of the ceiling imposed on item 0330-3333 of section 2 of this act and 50 per cent of such excess fees shall be deposited in the General Fund. Such excess revenue up to $5,000,000 shall be used to defray the costs associated with the implementation of a credit card system for the collection of fees by the judiciary, and for such other purposes deemed appropriate by the chief justice for administration and management.
