 Annuities for Surviving Spouses of Certain Veterans SECTION 80. Section 6B of chapter 115 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following paragraph:-The unremarried surviving spouses of veterans and of certain deceased members of the armed forces of the United States, whose death occurred as a result of injury sustained or disease contracted during active service in time of war, insurrection, or combat, and who are in receipt of Dependency Indemnity Compensation from the Veterans Administration of the United States, shall be paid the sum of $1,500 annually in two equal installments on August 1 and February 1. The first such installment shall be due and payable following the date of the surviving spouse's application. |
