8315-1020 Department of Public Safety Inspection and Training
For the department of public safety which may expend not more than $9,491,889 in revenues collected from fees for annual elevator inspections and amusement park ride inspections; provided, that funds shall be expended for the operation of the department, to address the existing elevator inspection backlog and to defray the costs associated with performing overtime elevator inspections; provided further, that the committee shall maintain at a minimum the existing level of elevator inspectors to further manage the existing elevator inspections backlog; provided further, that the department shall make efforts to employ inspectors to perform overnight and weekend inspections during their regular work shifts; provided further, that funds shall be expended for escalator inspections; provided further, that the department shall provide a full waiver of the inspection fee for an individual who requires a wheelchair lift as a medical necessity and whose annual income does not exceed the maximum allowable federal Supplemental Security Income benefit or $7,236 a year, whichever is greater; and provided further, that for the purpose of accommodating timing discrepancies between the receipt of retained revenues and related expenditures, the department may incur expenses and the comptroller may certify for payment amounts not to exceed the lower of this authorization or the most recent revenue estimate as reported in the state accounting system
