Computers, smart phones and the internet are commonplace in our lives. These technologies can open up new areas of investigation for law enforcement, but the ever-changing advancements in technology require on-going education.
The conference provided attendees with a greater understanding of crimes involving the internet, computers and cell phones, as well as appropriate investigative techniques to address these crimes.
Following welcoming remarks and introductions by District Attorney David F. Capeless, Massachusetts State Police Sergeant Steven Del Negro, liaison to the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, presented sessions on computers and social media, understanding and investigating IP address, and electronic evidence gathering.
The conference also featured Second Assistant District Attorney Robert W. Kinzer who addressed legal issues including administrative subpoenas, search warrants and case law updates as well as Massachusetts State Police Sergeant Michael Hill who discussed cell phone investigations.
