Begley sent to state prison on drug charges

A Pittsfield man, who pleaded guilty March 14th, was sentenced this morning in Berkshire Superior Court.  33 year old SEAN M. BEGLEY (10 Cedar Street) appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

BEGLEY pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, three (3) counts of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY, three (3) counts of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM, three (3) counts of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, six (6) counts of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE (2nd offense) and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF ANABOLIC STEROIDS.  Judge Agostini ordered that BEGLEY serve a 3 to 4 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charge of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE.  He was placed on 5 years probation on the other charges.  

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his home on July 1, 2011.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield, Lenox and Lanesborough Police Departments, deputies from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
