Philpot pleads guilty, sent to prison

A North Adams man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  30 year old JEFFREY PHILPOT, JR. appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

PHILPOT pleaded guilty to one (1) count of LARCENY OF A FIREARM and one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT LARCENY OF A FIREARM.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve concurrent 2 to 4 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.    

The charges stem from the theft of a hand gun in North Adams on June 14, 2011. 

One (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WITH ONE PRIOR VIOLENT CRIME OR DRUG OFFENSE were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.

The investigation was conducted by members of the North Adams Police Department and the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
