Richard Carnevale sent to state prison
A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges. 33 year old RICHARD B. CARNEVALE JR. appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.
CARNEVALE pleaded guilty to one (1) count of TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF OXYCONTIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and four (4) counts of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS. Judge Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 5 to 8 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE, POSSESSION OF OXYCONTIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and three (3) counts of CONSPIRACY. CARNEVALE was given concurrent house of correction time on the other charges.
CARNEVALE was engaged in trafficking in cocaine on March 3, 2010 and was in possession of cocaine, oxycontin and marijuana with the intent to sell it when he was arrested on March 3, 2010. He also conspired with others to traffick in cocaine between December 22, 2009 and April 15, 2010.
Three (3) counts of TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE and one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force, including state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Pittsfield, Adams, North Adams, Dalton, Lee, Lenox, Williamstown, Lanesborough, Great Barrington and Stockbridge Police Departments, federal investigators from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
