Simmons pleads guilty, sent to jail

A Petersburg, New York man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to an accessory charge.  20 year old RICHARD J. SIMMONS, JR. appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.

SIMMONS pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT, TO WIT: ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON.  Judge Ford ordered that he serve a 30 day sentence to the Berkshire County House of Correction.

SIMMONS admitted that he knew 22 year old William Fiske stabbed a man during an altercation in Adams on April 16, 2009, and, despite knowing that police were looking for Fiske, SIMMONS drove him to North Adams.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Adams Police Department.
