Harris pleads guilty to child pornography charges

A North Adams man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  68 year old DAVID B. HARRIS appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

HARRIS pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, one (1) count of DISSEMINATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY and eighteen (18) counts of KNOWINGLY POSSESSING VISUAL MATERIAL OF A CHILD DEPICTED IN SEXUAL CONDUCT.   Judge Agostini ordered that he serve 6 months of a 2 and half year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.  HARRIS was placed on 2 years probation on the DISSEMINATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY charge on the condition he undergo counseling, turn in all computers and/or media storage devices, not possess any computer or cell phone that can access the internet, not possess any pornography and allow a probation officer to search any computer or media device during the probationary period.  HARRIS was given concurrent 6 month House of Correction sentences on the (18) counts of KNOWINGLY POSSESSING VISUAL MATERIAL OF A CHILD DEPICTED IN SEXUAL CONDUCT.

HARRIS disseminated child pornography on January 24, 2010 and was in possession of child pornography when he was arrested on July 18, 2010. 

 The investigation was conducted by State Police detectives assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the Massachusetts and New York Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces, State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and investigators assigned to the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
