A Pittsfield man was found not guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court on an assault charge.  The jury deliberated for about 7 hours over a two day period before returning its verdict against 35 year old JOHN H. TART. 

TART was found not guilty on one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON.         

The charge stems from a disturbance on Cloverdale Street, in Pittsfield, on July 4, 2010. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
