Matthews found guilty, will be sentenced June 7th
A Pittsfield man was found guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court on sexual assault charges. The jury deliberated for about 7 hours over a two day period before returning its verdict against 23 year old STEPHEN K. MATTHEWS.
MATTHEWS was found guilty on one (1) count of RAPE in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in Pittsfield on February 13, 2010 and involved a 29 year old woman.
Judge Daniel Ford released MATTHEWS on $1,000 bail on the condition that he abide by an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, report daily to the Probation Department, remain drug and alcohol free, submit to random testing, have no contact direct or indirect with victim and live with his parents pending sentencing which will occur June 7th in Hampshire County Superior Court.
MATTHEWS was found not guilty on one (1) count of RAPE.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
