Race enters not guilty pleas in Superior Court

A Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges.  29 year old SHAUN M. RACE (18 Broad Street) appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

RACE had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS, one (1) count of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER, one (1) count of CHILD ENDANGERMENT WHILE OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE and one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE.  Judge Agostini released him on personal recognizance on the condition RACE remain drug free and undergo drug testing. 

It is alleged RACE was the operator of a motor vehicle involved in a single vehicle accident in Lee on May 12, 2012.  The accident claimed the life of 30 year old Mayra Demedeiros.  The couple’s 1 month old baby was not injured in the crash.    

The investigation was conducted by members of the Lee Police Department.
