Racicot will serve time in state prison
A Windsor man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges. 35 year old JOSEPH C. RACICOT appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.
RACICOT pleaded guilty to one (1) count of BREAKING AND ENTERING IN THE DAYTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY, sixteen (16) counts of LARCENY OVER $250, twenty three (23) counts of LARCENY UNDER $250, one (1) count of LARCENY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, one (1) count of BREAKING AND ENTERING IN THE NIGHTTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY, three (3) counts of WILLFUL AND MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY OVER $250, three (3) counts of IDENTITY FRAUD, three (3) counts of ATTEMPT TO COMMIT A CRIME, TO WIT: LARCENY OVER $250, two (2) counts of UTTERING, two (2) counts of FORGERY, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE, one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A LICENSE and one (1) count of MISUSE OF A CREDIT CARD. Judge Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 3 to 5 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of BREAKING AND ENTERING IN THE NIGHTTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY, BREAKING AND ENTERING IN THE DAYTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY, LARCENY OVER $250, LARCENY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, WILLFUL AND MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY OVER $250, IDENTITY FRAUD, MISUSE OF A CREDIT CARD, UTTERING and FORGERY. RACICOT was given concurrent house of correction time on the other charges except for OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A LICENSE on which he was assessed a $100 fine which was remitted by Judge Agostini.
The incidents occurred in Windsor, Dalton, Pittsfield, and Stockbridge between October 1, 2007 and May 6, 2008.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Massachusetts State Police Berkshire Detective Unit, Dalton Police Department, Windsor Police Department, Pittsfield Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspector's Office.
