Rathbun turns himself in on 17 year old charges

A Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges.  43 year old RICHARD A. RATHBUN appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

RATHBUN had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of BURGLARY, ASSAULT ON AN OCCUPANT, one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON and one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY.  Judge Agostini ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $25,000 bail. 

It is alleged that RATHBUN broke into the home of a man who is now 50 years of age and once inside the dwelling it is alleged RATHBUN assaulted the victim.  The incident is alleged to have occurred in Pittsfield on March 25, 1995. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
