Rivera is arraigned on firearm and drug charges

A Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges.  35 year old JASON RIVERA (72 Lenox Avenue) appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

RIVERA had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE (2nd offense), one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN WITH PRIOR CONVICTIONS FOR VIOLENT CRIMES OR SERIOUS DRUG OFFENSES, one (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD and one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM.     Judge Agostini released him on $5,000 cash or $10,000 surety bail. 

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his home on September 13, 2012. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, deputies from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
