Spratling is sent to state prison
A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court. 28 year old JOHN C. SPRATLING a/k/a JAY SPRATLING appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.
SPRATLING pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON. Judge Ford ordered that he serve a 5 to 6 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.
SPRATLING assaulted 26 year old Jahda Martin in Pittsfield on March 6, 2010.
One (1) count of MURDER and one (1) count of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, state police from the Crime Scene Services Section and members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
