The death of a Pittsfield man is being investigated by police

Police are investigating the death of 49 year old DAVID OLIVERAS of Pittsfield who was found outside his apartment building at 47 West Housatonic Street shortly before midnight Thursday by a neighbor.

OLIVERAS was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston where an autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Saturday.

District Attorney David F. Capeless stated, “While the circumstances suggest that foul play was not involved, investigators are still considering all possibilities, and are actively working to determine exactly what happened to Mr. Oliveras.”

The investigation is being conducted by the Pittsfield Police Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
