Trottier case dismissed, witnesses unavailable

The case against a Pittsfield man was dismissed this morning in Berkshire Superior Court.  51 year old THOMAS J. TROTTIER had been arraigned Monday on charges stemming from an incident which occurred in 1984.

TROTTIER was arraigned on one (1) count of BREAKING AND ENTERING IN THE DAYTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY, one (1) count of LARCENY, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD, and two (2) counts of LARCENY BY FALSE PRETENSE in connection with a break into a home in Lanesborough on January 6, 1984.

Those charges were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth this morning due to the fact that several key witnesses have passed away.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Lanesborough Police Department.
