Weller is held on $1 million bail
A Sandy Hook, Connecticut man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court in connection with a motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a South County woman. 35 year old FREDERICK J. WELLER appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.
WELLER had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER, one (1) count of OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER, one (1) count of OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL (5th offense), one (1) count of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON, one (1) count of LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT, DEATH RESULTING, one (1) count of LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT, two (2) counts of LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT and one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE. Judge Ford ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $1,000,000 bail.
The charges stem from a multi vehicle crash in Sheffield that claimed the life of 24 year old Moira Banks-Dobson and seriously injured a 52 year old man. The incident occurred on February 28, 2012.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Sheffield Police Department.
