Baruch pleads guilty, sent to prison

A Lenox man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  19 year old PHILIP K. BARUCH, JR. appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.   

BARUCH pleaded guilty to one (1) count of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER and one (1) count of SPEEDING.  Judge Ford ordered that he serve a 4 to 6 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charge of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER.  The speeding charge was placed on file.      

BARUCH was the operator of a vehicle that struck a tree on Greylock Street in Lee on December 30, 2011.  17 year old Remy Kirshner died as a result of the crash. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Lee Police Department and Massachusetts State Police from the Collision Accident Reconstruction Section.
