Cofield pleads guilty to drug and firearm charges
A Springfield man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges. 39 year old YARMI LAMART COFIELD, SR. a/k/a LAMART COFIELD and LIFE appeared before Judge C. Jeffrey Kinder.
COFIELD pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense), one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY, one (1) count of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD. Judge Kinder ordered that he serve concurrent 4 to 5 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense) and POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY. COFIELD was given concurrent house of correction sentences on the other charges.
The charge stems from the execution of a search warrant at 76 Linden Street, in Pittsfield, on September 19, 2012.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield, Lanesborough and Great Barrington Police Departments, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
