Dupont pleads guilty to a sexual assault charge

A South Egremont man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  19 year old ANDREW DUPONT appeared before Judge Daniel Ford. 

DUPONT pleaded guilty one (1) count of INDECENT ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A PERSON WHO HAS ATTAINED 14 in connection with an incident that occurred in Great Barrington on December 27, 2011 and involved a 15 year old girl. 

DUPONT also pleaded guilty to one (1) count of VIOLATION OF A HARASSMENT ORDER in connection with an incident in Great Barrington on May 22, 2012 involving the same girl.   

Judge Ford ordered that DUPONT serve a 15 month sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of VIOLATION OF A HARASSMENT ORDER.  He was placed on 18 months’ probation on the other charge on the condition DUPONT remain drug and alcohol free, undergo counseling and have no contact with the victim during the probationary period.               

Two (2) counts of RAPE AND ABUSE OF A CHILD: NO FORCE were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth. 

The investigations were conducted by members of the Great Barrington Police Department.
