Guinan found guilty of vehicular homicide
A Lanesborough man was found guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on several charges. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before returning its verdict against 54 year old DOUGLAS F. GUINAN.
GUINAN was found guilty on one (1) count of MOTOR VEHICLE HOMICIDE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER and one (1) count of OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND OPERATING TO ENDANGER CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. Judge Daniel Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 5 to 7 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.
GUINAN was the operator of a vehicle which struck another on South Street in Pittsfield on October 23, 2010. 25 year old Michael Ashline was killed in the crash. A 24 year old woman suffered serious injuries in the accident.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
