Hoyt sent to prison on sexual assault charges

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to sexual assault charges.  55 year old ROY W. HOYT SR. appeared before Judge Daniel Ford.    

HOYT pleaded guilty to two (2) counts of RAPE AND ABUSE OF A CHILD and two (2) counts of INDECENT ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A PERSON WHO HAS ATTAINED 14.  Judge Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 6 year to 6 year and a day state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the RAPE AND ABUSE OF A CHILD charges.  HOYT was given concurrent 4 to 5 year state prison sentences on the other charges.   

The incidents involved a young man who is now 21 years of age and occurred in Pittsfield and Lanesborough between September 1, 2002 and September 19, 2006. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield and Lanesborough Police Departments.
