Martin pleads guilty, sent to state prison

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to drug and firearm charges.  29 year old DANIEL MARTIN appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

MARTIN pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A SAWED-OFF SHOTGUN, one (1) count of RESISTING ARREST, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and one (1) count of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN.  Judge Agostini ordered him to serve a 2 and a half to 4 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the POSSESSION OF A SAWED OFF SHOTGUN charge.  MARTIN was given concurrent 2 year house of correction sentences on the other charges.     

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at 5 Parker Street in Pittsfield on March 7, 2012. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield and Adams Police Department, deputies from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
