Mathews arraigned in Superior Court on a drug charge

A Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on a drug charge.  24 year old JOSEPH E. MATHEWS appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

MATHEWS had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2^nd offense).  Judge Agostini ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $1000 cash or surety bail. 

The charge stems from an incident in Pittsfield on February 12, 2013.   

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
