Moody sent to state prison on a drug charge
A Pittsfield man who pleaded guilty September 5th was sentenced this morning in Berkshire Superior Court. 30 year old EYZAIYA D. MOODY a/k/a EYZIAYA MOODY appeared before Judge John Agostini
MOODY pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of DRUG VIOLATION WITHIN A DRUG FREE SCHOOL ZONE, one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON, one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE, one (1) count of OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE (2nd offense), one (1) count of NEGLIGENT OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE and one (1) count of FAILURE TO STOP FOR A POLICE OFFICER. Judge Agostini ordered that he serve a 1 day sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE. MOODY was given a 4 to 6 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the SCHOOL ZONE charge. That sentence will be served on and after the one imposed on the drug charge. Moody was ordered to serve concurrent house of correction sentences on the assault charges. The motor vehicle offenses were placed on file.
The charges stem from a motor vehicle chase in Pittsfield on January 4, 2013.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
