Pettijohn pleads guilty to firearm charges, sent to jail

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  23 year old ADAM M. PETTIJOHN appeared before Judge Mary Lou Rup. 

PETTIJOHN pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of ASSAULT BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON and one (1) count of DISCHARGING A FIREARM WITHIN 500 FEET OF A DWELLING.  Judge Rup ordered that he serve 18 months of a 2 and a half year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charges of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and ASSAULT BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON.  PETTIJOHN was placed on 1 year probation on the condition he have no contact with the victim, get a General Education Degree and seek employment.  He was also given a concurrent 3 month jail term on the other charge.    

The incidents occurred in Pittsfield on October 27, 2012. 

One (1) count of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN

and one (1) count of DISCHARGING A FIREARM WITHIN 500 FEET OF A DWELLING were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
