Pixley found not guilty lack of criminal responsibility

A Great Barrington man was found not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility this morning in Franklin Superior Court.  63 year old DAVID A. PIXLEY, SR. appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

PIXLEY was found not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility on one (1) count of BURNING A DWELLING HOUSE, one (1) count of BURNING A BUILDING and eight (8) counts of ATTEMPTING TO BURN A BUILDING, MOTOR VEHICLE, STRUCTURE, OR PERSONAL PROPERTY.  Judge Agostini allowed a Commonwealth motion to commit the defendant to a secure mental health facility.      

The incidents occurred in Great Barrington on June 22, 2011. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Great Barrington Police Department, the Office of the Fire Marshal, Massachusetts State Police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
