Roberts pleads guilty to firearm and other charges

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  25 year old LANCE O. ROBERTS appeared before Judge Mary Lou Rup. 

ROBERTS pleaded guilty to one (1) count of BREAKING AND ENTERING A BUILDING IN THE DAYTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY and one (1) count of LARCENY FROM A BUILDING.  The incident occurred in Pittsfield on July 20, 2012. 

ROBERTS also pleaded guilty to two (2) counts of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY OVER $250, two (2) counts of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $250, three (3) counts of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD.  He was in possession of stolen property in Pittsfield on July 22, 2012. 

Judge Rup ordered that he serve concurrent 2 year sentences at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charges of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY.  ROBERTS was given concurrent 18 month house of correction sentences, to be served on and after the first sentence, on the ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD charges.  He was placed on 5 years probation on the other counts on the condition ROBERTS refrain from using illegal drugs, submit to drug testing and undergo substance abuse treatment during the probationary period.    

The investigations were conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department. 

 

            (Note: ROBERTS will serve a 3 and a half year jail term.)
