Sanford pleads guilty, sent to prison on a drug charge

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  22 year old RONALD P. SANFORD a/k/a BRAZIE appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

SANFORD pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and one (1) count of DRUG VIOLATION WITHIN A DRUG FREE SCHOOL ZONE.  Judge Agostini ordered that he serve a 1 to 2 year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charge of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE.  SANFORD was given a 2 and a half to 3 year state prison sentence, to be served on and after the first sentence, on the SCHOOL ZONE violation.   

The charges stem from an incident in Pittsfield on July 30, 2012.

The investigation was conducted by state troopers assigned to the Cheshire substation.
