Smith sent to jail on a drug charge

A Pittsfield woman pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  35 year old AMENA SMITH appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

SMITH pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD.  Judge Agostini ordered that she serve 1 year of a 2 year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE.  SMITH was also placed on 2 years probation.  The other charge was placed on file.    

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at 405 Wahconah Street on October 31, 2012

One (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY, one (1) count of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN and one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
