Stevens found guilty on a drug charge

A Pittsfield man was found guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on a drug charge.  The jury deliberated for about 1 hour before returning its verdict against 43 year old JAMES STEVENS a/k/a JOHN S. TAYLOR, LITE, JAMES STEVENSON, JAMES A. STEPHENS, JAMES STEPANS, JAMES S. STEPHENS, ROBERT SANDER, ANTHONY A. WALLACE, ROBERT SANDERS and JAMES A. STEVENS.

STEVENS was found guilty on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE.  Judge Daniel Ford ordered that he serve a 6 to 6 and a half year state prison sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.    

The charge stems from the execution of a search warrant at 35 Prospect Street in Pittsfield on September 7, 2007. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield, Adams, North Adams and Sheffield Police Departments and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
