Tripodes pleads guilty, sent to state prison

A North Adams man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to numerous charges.  19 year old SHAWN M. TRIPODES appeared before Judge Daniel Ford. 

TRIPODES pleaded guilty to six (6) counts of LARCENY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, three (3) counts of WANTON DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, three (3) counts of LARCENY UNDER $250, two (2) counts of LARCENY OF A CREDIT CARD, two (2) counts of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY OVER $250, one (1) count of RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY UNDER $250 and two (2) counts of BREAKING AND ENTERING A MOTOR VEHICLE IN THE NIGHTTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY.  Judge Ford ordered that he serve concurrent 2 to 4 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of LARCENY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, BREAKING AND ENTERING A MOTOR VEHICLE IN THE NIGHTTIME WITH INTENT TO COMMIT A FELONY and RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY OVER $250.  TRIPODES was given concurrent house of correction sentences on the other charges.      

The charges stem from a series of incidents in North Adams, Adams, Cheshire and Florida between April 5, 2013 and April 15, 2013. 

One (1) count of COMMON AND NOTORIOUS THIEF was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.

The investigations were conducted by members of the North Adams, Adams and Cheshire Police Departments, state troopers from the Cheshire barracks and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
